Wicked Good Food & Ice Cream, Made with Care

The Grassroots Story

Grassroots Ice Cream & Street Food is a locally owned, family-run business with three community-loved locations in Granby, Simsbury, and New Milford, Connecticut. We’re known for food and ice cream made with intention—never rushed, never cut corners, always made with care.

What makes Grassroots different isn’t just what’s on the menu—it’s how seriously we take the experience. From comforting staples people come back for again and again to creative flavors and dishes that surprise you in the best way, everything we serve is thoughtfully made using high-quality ingredients and time-tested processes.

Our ice cream is crafted at our Granby Creamery, where we focus on doing things the right way—using fresh ingredients and making many of our mix-ins, like jams, brownies, and cheesecake, in-house. On the food side, we apply that same mindset to scratch-made favorites like fried chicken, burgers, and wraps. We like to call it fast-gourmet: familiar, approachable food that tastes unmistakably better.

Grassroots began in 2013 in the former Granby General Store, and while we’ve grown, we’ve never lost sight of what matters most. We’re small enough to truly care—about our food, our team, and the people who walk through our doors. Every kind word, every thoughtful review, every note telling us we were part of a family tradition or a holiday table means more to us than we can easily put into words.

We’re honored to have been recognized by our community, including being named a Best of Connecticut Runner-Up (2025), but what matters most is earning our customers’ trust visit after visit. Whether you’re celebrating something big, finding comfort on a tough day, or just stopping in because it’s Tuesday, we’re grateful you chose Grassroots.

Thank you for being part of our story. We can’t wait to welcome you.
